In order to support the CEO and executive team throughout the coronavirus crisis, NEDs worked deeper in the business and boards streamlined some practices to adapt to the speed of decision making required during this time.
As boards transition from managing the Covid-19 crisis, NEDs we are working with have been considering the changes they might make to how they approach the work of the board. They are also recognising the need to assess their top talent in the context of the crisis which is revealing not only the strengths of top teams and leaders but also the weaknesses. Moreover, strategic business shifts will potentially require different skills, expertise, and thinking at the executive level.
Korn Ferry surveyed 52 NEDs (some who are Chairs) in Australia and New Zealand to learn how Covid-19 had impacted how their boards work, and the insights they gained from the experience.
